Video sharing websites is the faster and easy way
for users to spread information and news to worldwide especially the “popular
news”. It can be false romor, scandal or the truth story. Then, other website
users will start fill in the comment box. If it is a bad news, there will be
full of negative comment about that person in that news. Try imagine when you
read a video title “ Chua Soi Lek and Video Lucah Johor”, what is your response? Are you curious with it? Do you believe it?
Sometime, we cannot believe at all of what had been posted on video sharing websites. It can be edited by the user in order to damage someone reputation or the images in the video is unclear, so we cannot ensure that it is truth story UNLESS there has evidence to prove it. The video in below is about Chua Soi Lek admits the scandal is a truth in a media conference.
In December 2007, there has a scandal video
about Chua Soi Lek, Health Ministry Malaysia who was recorded without his
conscious when watching porno video with his girlfriend in a room. Many of the
viewers think that it is a shame not only for his family but also for Chinese
community as he is the member of MCA. From this video sharing website, we can
see that all of these comment describe him as stupid, immoral, curse him die
and sarcasm him as Health Ministry who educate sex to public. As a Health Ministry
and politician, he should be the good example for the citizens. However, he
admits that he had done the wrong things and apologizes to the citizens.
Once this scandal video is exposured to worldwide audiences, that person reputation had be damaged and it can affect his or her professional in that job and bring harm to family reputation too. As Kang states that video sharing websites can bring impact to a person current and future professional job and affect others people perception about that person. From these malicious comments, we can assume that the confidence of public toward Chua Soi Lek is severely reduced.
However, it is dangerous if we insult someone based on the inaccurate rumor video as we can be suited. If we do not know the truth, better do not comment anything based on what we heard and see. Before posting video on website, we should think that whether there has negative effect or not and ensure the content of video can be viewed by others audiences. As public, we should analyze the scandal or gossip with rational thinking before say something about it.
